Associate Professor
Dr. Angel Anthamatten is a Family Nurse Practitioner with nearly 25 years of experience. In 2010, she joined Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and has extensive clinical and academic expertise. Two of Dr. Anthamatten’s top areas of clinical specialization are diabetes and clinical pharmacology. As a certified nurse educator (CNE) and certified healthcare simulation educator (CHSE), Angel has developed expertise in competency-based education (CBE), artificial intelligence, educational technology optimization, virtual reality, and simulation. Dr. Anthamatten leads the direct clinical care core course series required for all advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) students (the “3Ps”) and coordinates the Advanced Pharmacology course.
Recognized for her leadership, she serves in the national role of AACN Essentials CBE Champion for VUSN. Dr. Anthamatten has published and presented extensively on topics related to clinical practice and nursing education. She is passionate about sharing her expertise with APRN students, other APRNs, and nurse educators. She is honored to partner in the education of future APRNs and facilitate their development of clinical competence and readiness for practice, equipping them to deliver of high-quality patient care to promote optimal health outcomes.
