Assistant Professor
Dr. Mindy Johnson is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and Emergency Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degrees from Vanderbilt University, with a focus on Emergency Care. Dr. Johnson currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, teaching in the Emergency Nurse Practitioner Program, and maintains a clinical practice at Vanderbilt Occupational Health and the Vanderbilt Walk-in Clinics.
Her commitment to education is rooted in her early career journey, which began with a degree in Secondary Education - Biological Sciences from Pennsylvania State University. This foundation ignited her passion for teaching, which she continues to nurture through active engagement with professional nursing organizations including AAENP, NONPF, AANP, and work within APRN board certification.
With over fifteen years of clinical experience in Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care, Dr. Johnson brings a wealth of practical knowledge to her academic and professional roles. Her academic interests focus on enhancing nursing curricula through the integration of collaborative competency-based education, the implementation of innovative interprofessional simulation techniques, and a dedicated emphasis on pediatric emergency and urgent care education.
