Associate Professor

Queen O. Henry-Okafor attended San Jacinto College Texas where she received her associate degree in Nursing. She received her baccalaureate and master?s degrees in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Tennessee State University and her PhD from the University of Tennessee. She completed a two-year postdoctoral training with the departments of emergency and cardiovascular medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.


She previously worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Vine Hill Community Clinic and clinical instructor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Dr Henry-Okafor is a Southern Regional Education Board Doctoral Scholar and her research interests include the role of biomarkers, cardiometabolic measures, and lifestyle interventions in the management of heart disease particularly in women and ethnic minorities.


She has presented her research findings at local and national conferences and is published in several peer reviewed journals. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and the Southern Nursing Research Society.
